My Twentysomething Life

I Do, Make, Read, Watch, Eat…

Just my Luck

I hope that you did not think, seeing the title of this post, that I was going to be watching or talking about the 2006 Lindsay Lohan/ Chris Pines movie, because if that were the case, you should be disappointed in me.

It is actually just my luck that I got strep again.  (Insert nasty picture of strep throat here that I actually googled but couldn’t bring myself to post.  Just too nasty).  I was feeling gross when I woke up this morning, so I went to the doctor, and there it was, strep again.

In the past six months I have had:
-a kidney stone
-the flu
-several colds
-three allergic reactions
-a bout with anxiety
-a torn tendon in my shoulder
-and now two rounds of strep

Sheesh, I’m worn out just writing all that.  I also mentioned all this to my doctor today and she ran some additional blood work because I should not be this sick.  So, hopefully I will know something soon, and I’m hoping for better luck this time.

Picking up the ball

Hey all!  I’m sorry that I dropped the ball on blogging the last couple days.  So here are all the things I would have told you the last couple days if I had blogged.

I finally finished Julie and Julia and I really enjoyed it.  It took me a while to read it, but it was a good book.  This afternoon I started an awesome book and have already read 100 pages of it!  I am reading Me, Myself, and Bob which is about the creator of VeggieTales.  It is really funny and makes me want to watch every (classic) VeggieTale movie!  I will probably have to buy all of them because I dread the day that my child will grow up without VeggieTales.

Yesterday I watched Bull Durham, and I really enjoyed it.  It was a fun movie.

Adam has strep, and yet he left me for the evening.  He is playing Risk with his friends, complete with mask and gloves so he does not contaminate them.

I made this for the bedroom, and I love it!

I also just finished these hats for my little cousins.  This first one is a beardo hat identical to Adam’s, just smaller:

I am eating cotton candy Trix yogurt, which is particularly delicious while writing this blog and watching Hamlet, which is a Best Picture movie.  And speaking of that, I can’t believe I am almost done!  Speaking of best pictures…when I finish the list, I am considering writing a series of blog posts reviewing each movie.  Is this something you would enjoy reading?

After finishing this post, I will start on another project.  My mother and father’s wedding album has fallen apart.  They asked me to re-do it for them, so I will be working on that tonight.  I hope it turns out well!

I hope your night is as good as mine!

February–a month of ups and downs

If you asked me how my February was I would tell you “Fantastic!”  But then, if I sat down and thought about it, I might have to change my answer.  There were definitely great parts of February, but there were also the bad parts of February.

Bad
Our microwave is dying
I found out I have a torn tendon in my shoulder–read about it here
Sleeping on the couch for most of the month
I only read three books
Stress with money
Got strep
Adam was gone studying a lot
Failed at doilies

Good
My birthday!!
I watched almost a movie a day
I read three really great books
I found out I got a scholarship to attend the Religious Communicators Convention in February
Predicted 21 of the 24 ocscar winners
Valentines day with my hubby
Made some really good recipes (yum)
Was a published guest blogger
Watched 6 best picture movies
Got the most “yes”es at the Emmanuel phoneathon
Crocheted a bearded hat
Finally watched Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
Discovered goodreads.com
And finally, I have all you wonderful people reading my blog!

Well, the good did outweigh the bad, so I think we can still call it a Fabulous February.  Here’s to a Marvelous March!

Sick and tired of being sick and tired

As if I wasn’t dealing with enough already, I am now sick.  I woke up with a sore throat, which I have had for a few days, but this time I had a fever, plus nausea and I was feeling a lot worse.  So I called in to work and slept for a few more hours.  Since I still felt pretty crummy I decided to go to the doctor.  So now I know, I have strep and a sinus infection.  “….yay….”  I will be contageous until tomorrow night and will be sleeping and laying on the couch for most of the time.  I hope my parents still come over this weekend because I was really looking foward to it.

So here I go to make a baked potato, which if you did not know, is probably the best thing to eat when you are sick.  Or so I have been raised to believe.  But I’m not complaining, I do love potatoes.
