Fishing for Topics

Hello lovely readers.  Thank you for sticking with me through this time of not writing.

I don’t know what it’s been.  I guess I’ve just been in a slump.  I haven’t know what to write about.

Since I have been failing at writing blog posts recently (I’m really sorry), I have decided to choose a topic to write about every day in July.  I have a couple ideas, but not quite enough to fill all of the 31 days.  So I’m going to ask for your help.  I want to know what you want to read about.  Give me a topic idea and I’ll be happy to add it to my list.

Look out for the list of topics coming soon so you know what you have to look forward to!

i did the coolest thing ever!

i did the coolest thing ever this weekend!  want to see?

here’s how it started:
IMG_17311 vinyl tablecloth, paintbrush, scissors, masking tape, chalboard paint.  These things are going to be an awesome table runner!
IMG_1732
first thing I did was tape out my table runner, which you can see in the above picture.
Next, I started painting on the tablecloth with the chalkboard paint.
IMG_1733 IMG_1734I painted over the masking tape and did three coats.  Once it was dry, I cut around the edge of the masking tape.
IMG_1735And then I peeled off the tape.
IMG_1736A little of the paint got under the tape, but because of the big pattern it’s not very noticeable
IMG_1737Then, you are supposed to condition the paint by rubbing a piece of chalk over it and then erasing it.  Here is the completed table runner.  I am so thrilled with how it turned out!
IMG_1738 IMG_1739 IMG_1740Yay!

My next great idea:  painting the top of my coffee table with chalkboard paint so we can keep score on the table when playing games!  Wouldn’t that be awesome!

i less than three reading

AKA I ❤ Reading.

I love it!

If you did not know this about me, I love it read.  In the month of May I read 24 books (listed here).  And so far in June I have read 7.  In January when I started using Goodreads (the most amazing tool for a reader), I set up a Reading Challenge.  And I challenged myself to read 100 books this year.  Want to guess how many I have read in the past 5.5 months?

73.

I’m just about halfway through the year and I’ve already read 73 books.  Goodreads told me today that I am 30% (30 books) ahead of my goal.  And it suggested that I increase my goal.

I just love to read!  I love great stories that I can lose myself in.

I nifty stat:  so far as a part of my reading goal, I have read a total of 23,944 pages.

It has been 156 days since I set my goal.  That means I have read an average of 153.49 pages a day.

As you can see, I just love to read!

Worn Out

All last week was VBS (Vacation Bible School), which I love, but it seriously wore me out this week.  And then on Saturday we helped our wonderful friends Jacob and Lauren move to Grey.  It was fun but a lot of work.  I’m sore and tired and suddenly it is Monday again.

My house is a wreck and there is no food in the house.  So hopefully after I tackle those two things tonight I will be able to rest.

How was your weekend?

Family

Well, Adam heard something at the beginning of this weekend that neither one of us thought I would ever say: “I’m so excited.  I miss my family.”  I never thought I would say this, because it is generally a new feeling for me.  All through college, I guess you could say I was glad to be away, and to have my freedom.  Even when I was five I was perfectly happy to go somewhere where my parents were not.  I never suffered from homesickness.  Until recently.  Recently I have really been missing my family.  This last weekend Adam and I went to Lexington to spend time with them.  And it was much needed!  One of the projects I brought home with me is all of the many years of my mothers photos.  My new project is to organize and scrapbook them.  And I’m actually looking forward to it.  Now please don’t hear my wrong, I have always loved my family.  I just was okay to be away from them every once and a while.
Check out these classy family photos from over the years:
17850_259231435419_4927883_nAw 🙂  Aren’t we a good looking family?
17850_259233905419_1513429_nAnd aren’t we so very patriotic?  (And look at Amanda with her cheeks full of bubblegum).

17850_271765890419_7562449_nThis picture commemorates when we actually started to like each other.  Haha.
300791_10150397844221233_628091117_nThis is one of my favorite pictures from the wedding.  I think it is precious 🙂

One of the best things about getting married was getting to be a part of a whole new family!  I love being a part of the Tomlinson family!

Family has become very important to me.  I can’t believe that I took them for granted for so many years.  I will never do that again!

Goal Update

I updated my goals list.  Check it out here.

I did pretty good in May and checked a lot of stuff off.  Only a few more “one time” goals to check off and it’s only June!
