My Twentysomething Life

I Do, Make, Read, Watch, Eat…

Welcome Back

It has been so busy around here.  I haven’t had time to blog.  I have been busy the last two weeks getting ready for registration and it’s here.  Yesterday and today are registration days which are very hectic for financial aid.  But I’m glad that the students are back.  So, welcome back students.

I also wanted to say to myself: “Welcome back to Pinterest!”  Since I was ahead of schedule this morning before work I took some time to welcome myself back to Pinterest.  Here are some of my favorite pins from my pinning this morning:

1I wish I had a princess apron 🙂
2I wish I had a cute bench to decorate.  Or a place to put a cute bench like this.

And this is for my father and my grandfather:  Enjoy!

I have sure missed Pinterest!

A Little Note

It’s good that this is such a busy week, well month because it has been so hard for me to stay off of Pinterest.  This busy schedule has almost helped me forget about Pinterest (who am I kidding?)

But it has gotten harder this last week because I am planning a shower with a friend for another good friend and it is so hard to plan a shower without using Pinterest for inspiration!

Only 6 more days.  Be looking for my reflections on my 30 days without Pinterest.

No Pinterest-Update

Trying not to use Pinterest, I have found out how much time I really spend on Pinterest!  It shocks me!  I have pulled up the website probably 20 times since Saturday afternoon!  I think I generally spend more time on Pinterest during a week than on any other social media site.  This is proving to be much more challenging than I thought!

I’m Struggling With

Recently I have really been struggling with contentment.  I feel like I am at a standstill in my life and I am ready for it to start again.  I’m having a hard time being content with this time in our life of Adam working through seminary.  I’m ready to move on and get on with our lives.

I am so glad that Adam is in seminary.  I am really glad that we are able to make it work for him to go to seminary, but I’m anxiously awaiting our future.

I’m really trying to work on this, but it seems the more I consciously try to be content then the more I’m thinking about it and the more discontent I become.  What a vicious cycle.  I really am glad that Adam is able to go to seminary, but three to four years is starting to seem like a long time, and I’m not even the one in school.

While thinking of writing this post, I came up with a plan.  One reason I think I am not content is because of Pinterest.  Now don’t get me wrong, I love Pinterest.  I think it is awesome.  But all it does is make me wish for something that I don’t have.  So starting today I’m going to spend 30-days without Pinterest to see if that makes a difference.  During this time I am going to try and study and really dig deeper into contentment.  Hopefully at the end of these 30 days you will see a happier, more content Lauren.  I sure do hope so!

Indoor Snowman

Indoor Snowman

This is one of the crafts that I had seen on Pinterest (surprise, surprise) that I finally got to do.

Now, when I was looking at it on Pinterest, it didn’t have a tutorial with it, so I kinda had to make it up as I went.  On Pinterest it said, “just buy a $3 spindle at Lowe’s” and that ended up being the hardest parts.  Adam and I wandered around Lowe’s for a long time looking for a spindle.  I found many table legs and chair legs, but no spindle.  Finally, when I was about to give up hope, I found a spindle.  It ended up being $1 and some change.  It didn’t look exactly like the one online did, but I figured it would work.

So, I sat there staring at this wooden spindle in my living room for 2-3 weeks trying to figure out how to turn it into a snowman.  It wasn’t as fat and round as I had originally envisioned so I had to mull over its transformation for a while.  Finally, one night I figured it out and set to work.

I painted the spindle white, and then added black eyes, mouth, and buttons and an orange carrot nose.  I had some extra fabric around for the scarf and hat.  I nailed the fabric to the head and tied it at the top.  I am very happy with how my indoor snowman turned out.
