Migraines

on October 8, 2013

I have had two migraines a week for the past 3 or 4 weeks.  This is getting a little ridiculous.  When I talked to my doctor about it, she gave me a better, stronger medication for the pain.  It hardly touches the pain, it just knocks me out.  I don’t know what is going on or why I am getting them like crazy!  Some people have suggested it could be:
-stress
-dehydration
-spinal misalignment
-my prescription for my glasses
-low weather pressure
-magnesium deficiency
I’m planning on going to the eye doctor as soon as I can find time to make an appointment, trying to find a chiropractor, or maybe hanging upside down.  I already try to drink a lot of water, but I’ll try more.  Does anyone else have any guesses?  Because I just want some relief!!

Definitely find a chiropractor to make sure your posture at work and in general isn’t affecting you negatively. My mom’s chiropractor does wonders for her. I get headaches all the time at work, but they aren’t usually very severe. Sugar and caffeine can both be a trigger (though they aren’t for all people). Sometimes just massaging my head helps it to feel a little better.

I’ve also read that over-medicating for headaches can actually make your brain more receptive to pain, decreasing the effectiveness of the painkillers. I don’t know how credible the source was, but it was something to think about.

I also got my eyes checked over the summer after a particularly nasty week, but my prescription only changed by one click, and my doctor said the difference wasn’t enough to cause headaches.
